What Can Be Treated?

You’ll receive treatment by a registered professional.

Back Pain

Back pain is one of the most common reasons people consult an Osteopath. In the UK, Back pain affects over 80% of the population at some time in their lives. Be it postural overstrain over a period of time or an acute episode caused by a fall, back pain can be extremely debilitating for sufferers.

Neck Pain

Neck pain is common, particularly at middle-age. Commonly, a build-up of poor posture, sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time and other bad habits can cause the neck to degenerate faster than normal. Neck pain can also result for trauma such as road traffic accidents or jarring movements.

Joint Pain

Joint pain is something that many suffer with immediately following a sport or work related injury or emerge as an result of the unresolved injury sometime later. It can be something which develops from an ongoing imbalance—occurring more slowly over time. In the over 50’s, a form of degenerative disease known as osteoarthritis can commonly be seen.

Headaches & Migraine

Headaches can present in many different ways. Tension headaches are common and often associated with the busyness of life and stress. Migraines can be very debilitating and distressing. Sometimes we may experience visual and hearing disturbances or hypersensitivity to light and sound. Other symptoms may include nausea and even vomiting.

Pregnancy

Many physical, mental and hormonal changes take place during pregnancy and these can put strain on a woman’s body. Structural changes which result from a shift in weight distribution, shape changes, and softening ligaments can ultimately lead to new areas of strain as well as exacerbate existing ones. Back pain, headaches, sciatica, pelvic pain, stiffness and swelling are common during pregnancy.

Cranial Osteopathy offers a safe and natural solution during for babies and young children,
and during pregnancy.

Babies & Children

Mechanical and emotional stress during the late stages of pregnancy and birth can result in physical strain and distress in a newborn. Forceps or ventouse delivery can restrict function and be a cause for residual discomfort. Sometimes symptoms can be expressed immediately, but not always. Unresolved strain patterns can result in symptoms of limited range of movement, colic, disturbed sleep and feeding difficulties.

Nothing is more important than the health and wellbeing of your child which is why a gentle cranial osteopathic is used to treat babies and young children (although this method of treatment can be used to effectively treat people of all ages).

Osteopathic adjustments provide a safe and effective treatment solution for limited movement and pain. Restoration of normal function and long term solutions to pain will always be our aim.

Please note: There is a broad range of conditions that can be treated osteopathically. If your symptoms or physical complaint is not listed above, it does not mean that you’re not suitable for treatment. Please contact me directly to discuss the suitability of your specific set of symptoms.
